How an energy audit works
Our trained technicians at Total Green Energy Solutions will begin your custom energy audit with an exterior walk around your home taking pictures and make notes of any features that may indicate energy loss. Peeling paint and worn-looking shingles that may indicate moisture or heat-vapor loss from the structure. We also inspects windows to see how insulated they are and checks for seams and cracks that could be better caulked or sealed against outside air.
Once inside the home, Total Green Energy Solution's technicians inspect pipes and ducts that give off heat and check there effectiveness and for common leaks that are present in most homes. A blower door is set up in an exterior door to create an air circulation. Our technicians will look at windows and trim, lighting, appliances, and heating and cooling equipment testing there efficiency. A typical energy audit can last from an hour to up to three hours depending on the size of the home. Once the walkthrough is complete, our technicians will create a custom report which will explain where heat and energy loss are occurring in the home and offer suggestions for fixing the issues.
